Glamping In Guatape, Colombia
Listen here, I've gone camping before (#Pathfinders), but I never thought I would go glamping. I didn't even think it could really be glamorous. So when I heard this was a popular thing in Guatapé, Colombia, I made plans! What is glamping, you ask? It is a new word for an old concept – camping but with much more luxury. If you want a unique travel experience combining nature and luxury, I recommend glamping!
At Bosko Habitat Nativo, you can enjoy all of the amenities of a luxury hotel while surrounded by nature. My tent was Mush-Room #7, a beautiful dome that has a comfortable king-size bed and en suite bathroom with an outdoor shower. The room includes daily breakfast plus wine, snacks, and s’mores every evening; I was definitely spoiled during my stay!
As highly requested by the IG story comments, here are the details of Bosko Habitat Nativo in Guatapé, Colombia. Including how to get there, what to expect, and some of my favorite amenities.
Getting to Guatapé
My trip to Guatapé started in Medellin, the capital of Antioquia and one of Colombia's most popular tourist destinations. I spent 2 weeks in Medellin, so a quick trip to Guatape was easy. I heard that the best way to get there was by bus, which you can easily catch at Medellin's Norte bus terminal station. I took the local bus called “Sotrasanvicente & Guatape La Piedra,” which cost me about $7 USD.
The only downside to this bus is that it makes many stops along the way to pick up and drop off locals and school kids, so the ride took a bit longer than it could have. The whole journey ended up taking just over 2 hours. Still, it was a scenic ride and worth it when I arrived at my destination.
Two hours and 51 miles later, I arrived in Guatapé! I was greeted by the beautiful colors of the buildings, the friendly locals, and the stunning scenery of the iconic Piedra del Peñol (Rock of Guatapé). The bus dropped us off at the Guatapé terminal in the town center. From there, I took a tuk-tuk to get to the glamping site. The tuk-tuk ride to Bosko only took about 10 minutes, and I was soon pulling up to the beautiful gates of the resort. BTW Bosko has their own tuk-tuk, it’s too cute! We used it to go back and into town, it is included in the room the price as well.
The Experience
When I arrived at the Bosko Habitat Nativo, I was immediately impressed by the level of customer service and the overall appearance of the resort. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and they went out of their way to ensure I had everything I needed during my stay.
The resort itself is stunning. It's situated on a hillside with spectacular views of the valley below and surrounded by lush green foliage. The accommodations are luxurious and spacious, and they come complete with all the amenities you could possibly need.
I had gotten to the resort reasonably early in the afternoon, and it wasn't quite time to check in yet. So, I decided to enjoy some time at the resort's on-site restaurant and get some work done. The wifi was great, so feel free to dip off here if you need to get away from society and focus. The restaurant has an incredible view of the valley below, and the food was terrific. I could tell that the ingredients were all fresh and locally sourced, and the flavors were out of this world.
After lunch, I took the opportunity to sit by the pool and get some work done before it was finally time to check into my glamping tent. When it was time for us to check in, the concierge gave me a booklet explaining the amenities and services available during my stay and a property map. The booklet was in Spanish, but she took the time to explain it to us in English and answer any questions we had, which I really appreciated. Then off to my "Mushroom" glamping tent #7, my bags went! It was a little walk, and I didn't have to lift a finger.
As I approached my tent, I was absolutely blown away by its beauty! It was decorated with local artwork and had a cozy, rustic feel. The furniture was handcrafted, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bed had heating pads under the sheets, which made for the perfect cozy spot to relax in since it was chilly and rainy during most of the stay. Each tent has its own private bathroom with a sink and toilet. The only thing I didn't like was the shower outdoors; great for pictures, but I watched my surroundings the whole time.
The rooms also come with a robe and slippers for you to use and offer à la carte snacks and drinks to choose from. Breakfast was also included with the room's price, which was nice! Everything you order is charged to your room at the end of your stay, so you don't have to worry about carrying cash around. Check out the room tour here.
We went into town to explore and grab dinner. When we got back, I was impressed to find out that they have a fire pit specifically made for making smores and that the staff there will set up the fire for you and reserve the spot for you and your party only! We spent most of the evening sitting by the fire pit, chatting with other guests, and enjoying the incredible views. It was the perfect way to end our first day at Bosko.
The following day, we woke up early, ordered breakfast, and created some Reels (which I never posted until I wrote this, hehe). The breakfast buffet was incredible - they had everything from eggs and bacon to pancakes and waffles, and the French press coffee was delicious! Finally, it was time to say goodbye to Bosko, and we headed to the next Airbnb.
Overall, I had an incredible experience at Bosko Habitat Nativo and would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and beautiful place to stay in Guatapé! I paid about $145 per night, which was worth considering all the amenities you get. Just be sure to book in advance to get the best price!
Thanks for the memories, Bosko.
